SIM8200EA-M2 on Raspberry Pi 5 Not Connecting to 5G
Posted: Wed Mar 19, 2025 10:42 am
Setup Details:
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 5 + SIM8200EA-M2 5G HAT
SIM Card: Works with 3G/4G/5G in my phone
Software/Commands Used:
sudo qmicli --device=/dev/cdc-wdm0 --device-open-proxy --nas-network-scan
mmcli -m 0 --3gpp-scan
Problem:
The modem connects to 3G/4G (LTE) but not 5G.
When I force the mode to 5G-only, there is no response.
Scanning for networks only shows 3G and LTE, not 5G.
Setting 4G/5G mode reverts back to 4G-only after a minute.
Things I've Tried:
Forcing 5G mode → No response.
Scanning networks → Only finds 3G and LTE, not 5G.
Setting preferred mode to 4G/5G → Modem automatically switches back to 4G-only after a minute.
How can I force 5G connection and troubleshoot why it's not being detected?
Any help or insights would be appreciated!
