I have tried a few USB adapters which draws power from USB port and a enclosure like this https://amzn.to/2Nn7mgc but you may have good point about power. Sorry to report have not gotten any further with the modem card. Seems to fight me no matter which operating platform I try to use. Thought I'd find way on linux but have not. Right now the little bugger is sitting on my desk, staring at me every day and laughing at me :) Have not given up, but ...
